Free2Date is Chat service and one of the first VAS services in Greece. It is available via SMS, WAP, MMS, VOICE and mobile application.

Goal

Free2date allows users to chat, exchange messages and meet users that share the same interests. It is available only by mobile by all access points of messaging, voice and internet.

Procedure

Users create a personal profile via Short Messaging Commands or by the Wap Interface. They enhance their profile with photos by MMS or by Wap Uploads. According to their profile, they perform personalize search and they engage private communication among other users using their Nickname. The SMS version is also available in the SIM Toolkit as it has normalized command syntax.

For the SMS application a short feature list is:

The MMS access point, also include interactive communication among the users. By this users may send private message using Text commands in their Multimedia Messages.

Wap application is fully integrated with SMS & MMS Application and it is enhanced with more features:

  • Favorite lists

The Voice application is accessible by a premium and a standard Voice number. Users that use the voice application are able to:

  • Send offline voice messages
  • Perform advanced search
  • Communicate with online users

The latest add-on of this service is the Java client of a mobile Date(link to Mobile Date Show Case) application, that is integrated and share similar functionalities with current versions.

Time of completion

The service itself is annually updated and enhanced in all access points. Its core was built in 2002 and the duration was 20 days.

Duration of Service

Interactive SMS Free2Date, was launched on 2002 in Greece and is still active.
Interactive MMS Free2Date was launched on 2003 in Greece and is still active.
Wap access called as Wap Date was launched on 2004 in Greece and is still active.

How it works

  • Step1: Registration Request
    Users to participate send a SMS with specific syntax, or uses template from the SIM Toolkit.

  • Step2: Registration Response
    Users receive relative response with all available information to use the service, and first results.

  • Step3: Private Message Request
    Users can send message to each other by specific commands, or by the template from SIM Toolkit.

  • Step4: Message Received from George
    Recipients receive the SMS ready to send back by altering only a part of it, or they access it via WAP.
