Find the Celebrity: a detective game for the SMS generation

An new style of interactive SMS game for all Imako Media print and online outlets.

Goal

'Find the Celebrity' is digital detective game - on an image of busy street life scene in downtown Athens, you have to guess which one of 220 numbered charactes is the celebrity, using one hint at a time.
All players are entered into a final draw for a cash prize, vacation packs to Europe, and GPS devices, courtesy of the  sponsors. Also, each message users sent credits them with 25 Akazoo points that can be used in akazoo.gr for the purchase of mobile content.
The game itself is an advertising platform incorporating advertising space for the logos of each sponsor.

Procedure

Internetq worked on every detail of this game:

  • Collaborating with the Imako Media marketing department to develop the game concept.
  • Photographing the city centre and creating storyboards for the artist.
  • Engaging a graphic artist to create the image scene and characters.
  • Creating a game dialogue and a hint sheet.
  • Developing the game software.
  • Configuring akazoo.gr to allocate credits to each user.

Time of completion

The planning, graphic design, dialogue, copyrighting and original technical implementation of the mobile service was completed in 30 days.

Duration of Service

The game is currently active and will be concluded on 25th February 2010, with a prize draw declaring the game winners.

How it works

  • Step1: The user sends the keyword START to 54100. He/she automatically receives a welcome note and the first hint to the game.
  • Step2: The user texts back the number that corresponds to the character he believes is the correct answer to the given hint.
  • Step3: The system replies according to the user’s answer. If he has found the correct character he then receives the next hint. If he fails to send the correct answer he receives a second and third hint for the same character.
  • Step4: The user gradually discovers all the characters and the target  celebrity, and then receives a unique code, a message congratulating him and informing him of his participation in the final prize draw.
