Akazoo2sms Solution

A tool developed to encourage freeflowing communication between Akazoo members, using Short Message Service (SMS) texts via a web-based interface.

Goal

Akazoo2sms enables users to send SMS messages to anyone on their friends list, as well as to external contacts, using tokens acquired across the Akazoo site.

Procedure

An Akazoo account is required to use the Akazoo2sms service. Once a member, the user can compose & send messages via SMS to his Akazoo friends, other Akazoo users and external contacts on any mobile phone number worldwide.

Using Akazoo2sms, members can:

  • Send text messages simultaneously to multiple recipients
  • Use a scheduler to set up a future delivery
  • Get delivery confirmations reports
  • Set simple and clear privacy settings
  • Access a message history that lists all messages sent from their account
  • Set an 'outcasts' blacklist list and easily add or remove members
  • Create a phonebook for viewing and managing mobile contacts

A key feature is the simple and comprehensive control of privacy settings. Akazoo users can choose who can send messages to their personal mobile phone by editing their privacy settings or by adding particular users in their “outcasts” list.

Time of completion

For the design and implementation of this solution our team spent a total of 55 days.

How it works

  • Step 1: An easy to use phonebook allows users to manage their contacts (both Akazoo users and external contacts). Users can select any contact from this list to send an SMS to.
  • Step 2: Users can add more than one recipient, and then compose the SMS they wish to send
  • Step 3: Users may send the SMS directly or schedule it for a later time & date.
  • Step 4: Users can review the status (sent, pending or failed) of all messages they have sent.
