Console games are high cost and high risk compared to mobile

According to Gartner, mobile games will generate approximately 20 percent of the entire gaming industry's revenue during 2015.

According to Gartner, mobile games will generate approximately 20 percent of the entire gaming industry's revenue during 2015.

By that year, game spending is expected to surpass $112 billion. However, increasingly expensive console products may very well help the growth of mobile gaming.

CEO of Addmired Gabriel Leydon told GamesIndustry.com that one of the biggest problems the console market has is the high price of video games - some cost as much as $70.

"You can't know what you're getting because it's another sequel with $100 million of marketing. One day after Call of Duty is out the used section in GameStop is filled with them. You have an army of consumers who paid $70 and lost $40 by trading it in," he said.

Mobile games, on the other hand, are a marketer's dream, as it's relatively inexpensive to create, purchase and advertise on mobile platforms. If a consumer dislikes a mobile game, he or she can at least feel relieved in the fact that he or she only spent a few dollars.

Although the console industry will continue to be a leading force in the gaming market, mobile games will always have the advantage of attractive, low prices.
